This year we’ve taken a different approach and decided to put the wagon out with some of our sunflowers on it and try to slow down the odd speeder who might be looking for some flowers. The price is right $5 for a 1/2 dozen, and they are about as fresh as you can get them. Once the zinnias start coming on we’ll add a couple mixed coloured bouqets of those as well. We plan to have the wagon out 6 days a week from morning until night. For those interested in the drive out, we’re located on the Canborough Road between Wellandport and Attercliffe in Southern Ontario, Canada. You’ll see the wagon.

We’ve grown to a size where we need to “move up a level” in terms of the equipment we use for various tasks. On the weeding front we hope the wheel hoe will help speed up the labour intensive task of keeping weeds to a minimum. During the test run we were impressed. We’ll see how it handles things this summer.

We’ll put some chicken wire over the chimney tomorrow to prevent more of that. The above picture shows the fan control thermostat (for if it gets to hot), and just a regular thermostat.

This pot suffered the worst; the soil froze, expanded and cracked the pot. When we started this whole flower farming thing we had the hardest time explaining to people what we were up to without them looking at us like we were cracked pots. Now, here we are five years later, and we grow and sell all our flowers at market and the farm gate. It’s quite enjoyable being a crack pot.
