Early Risers

Bob | March 12, 2009

It is most likely their proximity to the house (and its warmth) that causes these daffodils to be our earliest risers every year.  They poked their heads out a couple of days ago during a warm spell.  Last night the temperature dropped back to -12C, which may have made them reconsider coming out so early.

More Baby Plants

Bob | March 5, 2009

Plants (here there be snapdragons) keep popping out of the trays in the light racks.  We’re hoping they don’t come too quickly as we’re not quite ready to fire up the furnace in the greenhouse yet. In a few weeks we’ll be forced to start transplanting and letting them grow a bit bigger under plastic.

All Season Radiance

Bob | February 28, 2009

Some of our plants give us something to look at all year round.  We really like our ornamental grasses which have character no matter what the season.  They are as much of a pleasure to look at as they are to listen to as they move in the wind.
