Recently he brought us the slightly rusted pieces that he couldn’t use. Even though they weren’t structurally sound for a bin, we could use them to build a shade structure for the pasture. The goats immediately took occupancy while the sheep looked on in wonder. After a few days they started to share nicely.

We’ve slowly been cleaning it up as we need more space for our own hay. The result is quite a huge pile of really really old dusty hay that we mix with our manure. Eventually it will be all gone and reused as compost to help improve our soil and provide nutrients to our plants.

Tomorrow night we’ll fire up the furnace for a test run to make sure it’s in shape to keep things warm at night. During the day the sun will get the temperature up to 25C or more and the exhaust fan will kick in. At night the furnace just needs to keep things a bit above freezing and we’re happy. Wednesday the transplanting will begin!
