We’ve planted a number of spruce trees around the property over the years, and some are almost waist high. The buds at the top of this one are pretty much ready to burst into growth any time now. A little more sun and a little more warmth and we should see some green.

The first rows of the year have been planted. Some seeds actually require it to be quite cool in order to germinate, and conditions were right to get two rows seeded this past Saturday. Sunday morning an early rain moistened the soil and the seeds and we’ll see plants peeking out in a couple weeks.

Tonight is the test run of the greenhouse. The furnace seems to be running great after we put on a new thermostat and removed the dead bird from the fire chamber. The greenhouse is ready. Tomorrow night we’ll fire up the furnace for a test run to make sure it’s in shape to keep things warm at night. During the day the sun will get the temperature up to 25C or more and the exhaust fan will kick in. At night the furnace just needs to [...]
