Flooding
Posted By Bob on February 14, 2009
Our farm sits nestled on the banks of the Chippawa Creek (also called the Welland River). The recent warm weather has caused much of the snow to melt around us, which in turn causes the river to swell and flood. We keep track of how high the water is by a small branch on the tree across the river, and an old concrete well on our side. It has been higher in the past, but this is pretty high for this time of year. We have about 25 acres under water right now, including some of the flower beds. In fact there is an entire row of pussy willow under about 4 feet of water.
